Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA) 2008

Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA) 2008

The fifth Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards were held on Tuesday 18 November 2008, as part of the Asia Pacific Spatial Innovation Conference.

The awards are jointly hosted by the Australian Spatial Information Business Association (ASIBA) and the Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI).  They are the premier event for recognising the excellence of professionals and projects in the spatial information and technology industries in a range of categories.

Senator the Hon Kim Carr, the Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research was invited to the awards evening by the two associations.  The Minister congratulated the associations for bringing to attention so much inspiring work.

At the Western Australian Spatial Excellence Awards (WASEA) held in July 2008, the then-Minister for Land Information, Hon Michelle Roberts MLA commented that she hoped that Western Australia would perform just as well at APSEA 2008 as they did at APSEA 2007, when it took nine of the 16 awards.

By winning seven of the 17 awards on offer, WA has fulfilled that wish.
