The agenda

The Spatial Sciences Institute (SSI) WA Region conducted a regional CPD Seminar in Geraldton on the 16 November 2007at the Geraldton Surf Live Saving Club Mahommets Beach.  The program consisted of a half day on survey related topics and the other half on general spatial topics covering a wide range of spatial issues designed  to suit all spatial professionals in the region.  The presentations were from both industry and government and covered areas such as Satellite Imagery, the latest developments in Air Photography, WALIS Office Overview, Landgate Customer Service update, Cadastral Survey Update and the LSLB Forum.  The day was well attended by local GIS professionals

Of significant local interest was a presentation by Vince Noyes the Manager of the Geoscience Australia Satellite Laser Ranging Station near Yarragadee (near Mingenew) who explained the important role the facility plays in the tracking of all kinds of satellites in the southern hemisphere for the international space community.

The WALIS Office presentation

SSI are conducting their 2007 Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards.  This will be held in November at Luna Park Sydney and its iconic smiling face will welcome members of the Asia-Pacific spatial network, NSW Government and Sydney’s corporate fraternity to the annual Asia-Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA).
