SLIP

Shared Land Information Platform

The Shared Land Information Platform or SLIP is a shared information delivery system which provides fast and easy access to the State's land information.  It is based on an enabling framework of connected servers to deliver real time spatial data.  These data services are web enabled to allow direct use within end user software and the WALIS Atlas.

SLIP is also comprised of focus areas delivering information products to meet end user needs in the specific focus area.  Presently there are four focus areas of Emergency Management (EM), Natural Resource Management (NRM), Interest Enquiry (IE), and Electronic Land Development Process (ELDP).  Future focus areas may include but are not limited to resources and health.  The WALIS office will be pursuing other focus areas for future SLIP development.

There are two applications built to facilitate SLIP and promote spatial (geographic) information.  These include the WALIS Atlas which is essentially a digital version of a hardcopy atlas but tailored to Western Australia.  The Interragator+ is a search tool that will allow you to find metadata (data about spatial data) and data services such as SLIP.

SLIP Post Implementation Review

In early 2009, a consultancy firm was engaged to undertake a review of SLIP.  This review comprised a series of in-depth interviews conducted among private and public stakeholders.  This review was designed to provide an understanding of stakeholder perceptions of the benefits and perceived value of SLIP and to gather information regarding the barriers preventing SLIP being more widely adopted within these organisations.
