National policy development is led by ANZLIC, the peak council for public sector spatial data management in Australia and New Zealand.
ANZLIC contributes to good management of public sector spatial data by developing policy guidelines to assist jurisdictions adopt policies and procedures that are consistent across jurisdictions.

ICSM Guidelines for Digital Elevation Data.
The Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping has released a new publication titled ‘ICSM Guidelines for Digital Elevation Data’.
The aim is to provide guidelines and recommendations for acquiring elevation data depicting the earth's surface. The guideline represents a first cut in the preparation of best practice for Australia and has been prepared as an outcome of a review of available material from around Australia and selected countries. It was prepared under the auspices of the National Elevation Data Framework (NEDF) initiative. For further information on the NEDF or these guidelines visit the ANZLIC site.
