Chief Information Officer's Forum Wrap Up - Photos and Presentations
The Chief Information Officer's Forum - 'Business Intelligence: Making spatial information work for you' was held on Thursday, 12 March 2009.
The Forum was a very successful joint effort between the Western Australian Land Information System (WALIS) and the Australian Computer Society, and was especially designed to cater for Chief Information Officers.
Peter Batty, an industry leader in the rapidly growing field of geospatial and location technologies was the Forum's Keynote Speaker. Peter has served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at two of the industry's leading companies (Intergraph and Smallworld, now part of GE) as well as a cutting edge startup (Ten Sails, now Ubisense). Peter gave a fantastic and interesting presentation called 'The Geospatial Technology Revolution'.
Other speakers included:
- Professor Andrew Rohl, CEO of iVEC spoke about 'iVEC - Supporting WA Research'
- Dr. Robert Woodcock from CSIRO presented 'Spatial Data Infrastructure Supporting Earth Science' (also available is the video of the Tsunami Simulation - where do you think you should be located to be safe?)
- Mike Bradford, Executive Director of Information Access at Landgate discussed the 'Shared Land Information Platform (SLIP) Enabler'
- Dr. Derek Milton from ESRI Australia presented 'Location Intelligence in Business Knowledge'
A video of Peter Batty's presentation is located on the CRC-SI's Education Portal.
