July Focus

The ANZLIC Spatial Resources Discovery and Access Road Show WA

The ANZLIC Spatial Resources Discovery and Access Program was formed by ANZLIC in July 2008 in order to improve the collection and publication of metadata. The Program began activities to cover metadata tools and guidelines, education and outreach programs, registry and catalogue services and ongoing maintenance and governance.

The original ANZLIC toolkit was launched by Warwick Watkins at the spatial@gov

Conference on 15 June 2009. The toolkit included;

·        ANZMet Lite Metadata Entry Tool (Version 1.0)

·        ANZLIC Metadata Short Users Guide (PDF)

·        Draft Education and Training Presentation – master set (PPT)

·        The Value of Metadata – presentation for managers extracted from master set (PPT)

·        The Value of Metadata – speakers notes (PPT)

The most exciting part of this toolkit is ANZMet Lite. This metadata entry tool is a light weight stand alone, free to use tool developed by the Defence Support Group and modified for the use of the ANZLIC community.

To download ANZMet Lite go to http://www.anzlic.org.au/read/2469370794.html.

As part of the metadata education and outreach program a road show across will be shown across Australia and New Zealand to showcase ANZMet Lite and the associated toolkit.

ANZLIC are kicking off the road show in WA with the workshop to be run in conjunction with the WA Surveying and Spatial Information Conference 2009. The ANZLIC workshop will be run on the afternoon of July 16 and open to all Thursday participants of the conference as well as delegates who would like to only attend the ANLZIC workshop.
