This year, the guest speakers at the ISDE7 dinner will be motion capture pioneers, Fiona Milburn and Mark Schafer, from Auckland-based company WireFrame Ltd.

The development of complex digital techniques presents major technical and creative challenges which need to be overcome by a willingness to experiment and think outside the box. Join us for unique insight into adventures in ‘Playing in the Foam: the challenges of being on the cutting edge’.

WireFrame Ltd specialises in innovative digital techniques for major international film and video game productions. Mark Schafer produced the first two person captures and defined various motion capture standards in common use today. His work also includes capturing the motion for Gollum on The Lord of the Rings films. Fiona Milburn is a director and producer who has used motion capture in television, video games and feature films. She is currently exploring the emerging world of transmedia storytelling.

Fiona and Mark will also be conducting a workshop at the conference, with members of the International Society on Digital Earth, as part of preparations for an animation sequence on Digital Earth’s 2020 Vision.
