WALIS Advisory Committee
In May 2009 the State Government undertook a review of all committees, boards and task forces that are run through government agencies. As part of this process, a decision was made to cease the operations of the WALIS Advisory Committee. A full Governance Review of WALIS is now being undertaken.
The WALIS Advisory Committee (WAC) consisted of representatives from industry, community, education and local government. The purpose of the committee was to provide the WALIS Executive Policy Committee (EPC) and WALIS Spatial Management Group (SMG) with strategic advice to stimulate and encourage promotion and support for the development and use of geographic information within Western Australia.
WAC aimed to represent the common interests of the private sector and community in Western Australia. WAC contributed to the development of WALIS Strategic Plans and topical policy and strategic issues as they arose, such as pricing, data access, data quality, representation of geographic information in education and marketing of WALIS.
