Department of Transport

The new Department of Transport began operations on 1 July 2009, after the former Department for Planning and Infrastructure was split into three new agencies. The transport function is integral to business and commerce and important for social interaction and connecting communities.

Our key focus is on operational transport functions and strategic transport planning and policy across the range of public and commercial transport systems that service Western Australia. With more than 1000 employees, we have the expertise to deliver and connect a complex, inter-related economic and social network.

We connect people with goods and services through an intricate system of roads, railways, airports, ports and waterways and educate and regulate to keep them safe within those networks. Department of Planning

The Department of Planning formed on 1 July 2009 following the split of the Department for Planning and Infrastructure into three agencies.

The Department of Planning has statewide responsibility for the planning for future communities. The department plays a vital role in improving the quality of life of all Western Australians. We plan the cities and towns in which we live and the transport routes that connect us to our jobs, friends and places of recreation.We generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs through the planning approval process. Department of Agriculture and Food

The Department of Agriculture and Food provides leadership and strategic service (in partnership with industry and rural communities) to maximise agri-industries' contribution to Western Australia's sustainable development.  Core business includes:  generation, integration and application of knowledge and technology; provision of policy development and advice to government; management of statutory obligations which meet the needs of industry, community and customers; and the provision of research, development and information services to agriculture, food and fibre industries and the community.  For further information, please visit the Agriculture and Food website at http://www.agric.wa.gov.au

 

Department of Environment and Conservation

The Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) provides conservation and management services to the WA community that include: conservation and management of land, ecosystems and species; protection of ecosystems and forest resources from fire, disease, feral predators and pests; rescue of stranded marine mammals; management of national, marine and conservation parks; conservation of nature reserves; and the preservation of State forests for conservation, recreation and tourism.  For further information, please fisit the DEC website at http://www.dec.wa.gov.au/


Department of Water

The Department of Water's key roles are in resources assessment and allocation.  The also have strong environmental protection powers to ensure sustainable use of resources for responsible development.  The Department also provides services to the Environmental Protection Authority which is an independent statutory authority.

Department of Fisheries

Department of Health

The Department of Health (DOH) manages the State's public health services by developing and evaluating public health policies and resources. Department of Indigenous Affairs

Main Roads Western Australia

Department of Treasury and Finance

Landgate

Landgate, formerly the Department of Land Information (DLI), is the agency responsible for Western Australia's land and property information.  The agency will maintain the State's official register of land ownership and surveying information and also manage land and propertly valuations in Western Australia.

WA Electoral Commission

The Western Australian Commission (WAEC) is responsible for the conduct in WA of State Elections and Referenda, Local Government Postal Elections and Referenda and Industrial and other elections and referenda.  The WAEC also maintains the electoral roll for use in State and Local Government Elections, conducts research into electoral matters and other matters that relate to the function of the WAEC and promotes public awareness of electoral and parliamentary matters.  For further information please vist the WAEC website on http://www.waec.wa.gov.au

 

 

Western Australian Local Government Association

The Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA) is the peak organisation of local government in Western Australia.  Through its member Associations WALGA represents all local governments in Western Australia and provides a united voice for them.

Western Australian Museum

Tourism Western Australia

Tourism Western Australia is a statutory authority under the portfolio of the Minister for Tourism and is governed by a Board of Commissioners.  Responsible for promoting Western Australia as an attractive holiday, event, convention and incentive travel destination, nationally and overseas, Tourism Western Australia enhances the tourism industry, infrastructure and product base.

 It's role is to grow the development of tourism as an industry and increasing visitation to and length of stay in Western Australia, which is done through the following five major strategic objectives:

  • increase awareness, desire and visitation to Western Australia's iconic tourism and experiences
  • enhance visitor experiences
  • grow regional tourism
  • attract additional strategic public and private investment

The South West Development Commission partners with business and industry, the community and government to deliver better services, create more jobs and protect the South West's unique lifestyle.
