New WALIS Office Staff
The WALIS Office is very pleased to introduce you to our new staff members.
Derrick Chan and Jenny Smith have been appointed as Senior Project Officers. Jenny has been working closely with the WALIS Marine Group and will also be developing a number of SLIP Focus Areas over the coming months. Derrick joins the Office from Landgate, and has a strong backrgound in Quality Assurance. Derrick will be working on delivering WALIS Forum and a number of other strategic projects.
Melissah MacKenzie has taken up the role of Project Officer and will be producing WALIS News, eNews, managing the websites and bringing you WALIS Forum. Melissah has a wealth of experience in event management, organisational change and policy development.
Jade George has joined the WALIS Office as our GIS Officer. Jade will be working on ensuring the WALIS Community has the right information and access for WA Atlas and Interragator +.

OGC requests comments on web coverage standard extensions
The Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) membership approved a 30 day public comment period for a revision to the OpenGIS® Web Coverage Service (WCS) Interface Standard. Changes to Landgate’s Fees
Subject to the approval of the Governor, Landgate proposes to redefine its online products and pricing as part of its annual review of fees and charges. It is intended that a new fee schedule commence from 1 July 2008. The review includes an amalgamation of interactive search functions for names and other indices with primary search functions for obtaining copy documentation such as a Certificate of Title, Check Search, and Survey (Diagram, Deposited Plan and Strata Plan).24-06-2008

The Spatial Sciences Institue and the Institution of Surveyors, Australia (ISA) are moving towards a unified merged entity. There is a working group representing the key parties involved, that have been tasked to progress the merger and work on the details.21-05-2008
